Sierra Trading Post just added a handful of shirts from New England Shirt Company, the Fall River, Massachusetts business that’s been making shirts for nearly eight decades in a 200-year-old factory. Over the past twenty years or so they’ve focused on the high-end market, producing shirts for familiar names like Sid Mashburn, Khaki’s of Carmel, Wharf, the Andover Shop, O’Connell’s, and J. Press.
They started selling their house brand in 2011, with shirts featuring great fabrics and single-needle stitching. If you zoom in on the pictures above from Sierra Trading Post, you can also make out a split-back yoke.
Of the shirts at Sierra Trading Post, I’m particularly intrigued by the “Borelli” model. A New England Shirt Co. representative let me know that they’re the company’s “Italian button-down collar” shirt. Compared to your traditional Brooks Brothers-style collar, the Borelli features a bit more tie space and a more angular shape.
The shirts at STP are alpha-sized, with S through XXL in stock. I’ve not been hands-on with the shirts, but I’d expect the fit to run a bit full. Not my personal preference, but given their reputation, I’m willing to give them a shot and try them out myself.
